Letter by Patrul Rinpoche: The Fifth Day of the Drupchen In those extracts from an interview recorded on the 24th of Augustus 2008, Rinpoche explains the benefits of the Drupchen of Guru Rinpoche.
Prayers for World Peace Drubchen of Guru Rinpoche The Drupchen of Guru Rinpoche was a magnificent success and our precious teacher Patrul Rinpoche says that this excellent experience was due to the power of the student’s wishes.
Tibet Dzogchen Drupchen Rinpoche explained that “In Dzogchen monastery, when we make Drupchen, the fifth day is a very important day. We call that day the bumdrup”. Rinpoche told us that as a sign of blessings a special siddhi, which is real amrita, comes from the torma’s called the DrupTor”.

The Four Noble Truths are ‘the crucial point of the eighty-four thousand teachings, the starting point of the ocean of truthful teachings, the general outline, or summary, of all the sutras and tantras’.
They are ‘the foundation of all paths, the general outline of all vehicles and the great path of superior individuals. So, it is crucially important for our practice of the Dharma, whether it be according to the instructions of the sutras or of the tantras, that our knowledge of the meaning of the four truths be perfect.’
− The True Words of The Great Rishi
Written in the style of a root text, The Words of The Great Rishi is not at first sight an easy read. It requires diligent effort and a willingness to become familiar with precise terms and concepts. Formulated with great care and attention for those who approach its wisdom, it proves, on further inspection, to be a reference text of great incisiveness, acumen and brevity. Just like a detailed map, it is a constant source of new and unexpected discoveries which present clear gridlines that illuminate both the internal resonance and the contextual reference of the Four Noble Truths, a subject, often overlooked as only for beginners, which is integral to the full realisation of innate Buddha nature, and the study of which brings enormous benefit to all levels of that quest.

Tashi Delegs! I would like to take this opportunity to send a simple message to my students so that we can share some happiness together.
This year I have been travelling a lot. I have just come back from Switzerland where I visited a few cities and met many different people. We talked a lot about the Dharma and in particular about Kunzang Lama'i Shalung. The people I met understood the Dharma much better than I do and this inspired me greatly.

In this extract, Rinpoche explains us the link between 'motivation' and the practise of pure perception. This extract comes from a conference held in Louvain the 29th of march 2007 and entitled "To what does have one to think when one practises Dzogchen? "
Student question: Rinpoche la, could you explain a little bit about motivation and pure perception? You said that in Dzogchen it is important to have pure perception. You also said that motivation is very important. How are the two connected? Can one be practiced without the other?
Rinpoche's answer: From the Dzogchen practitioner point of view, when you say motivation, it is the motivation of pure perception. If you practice Dzogchen, in the beginning we need special motivation which is pure perception. It is using different words but with the same meaning.

I am writing to you from Poland, where during the last few days I have been visiting some cities and meeting Buddhist practitioners so that we could talk about compassion. They have been generous with their praise, saying how much they have been enjoying our discussions, but they would say that, wouldn't they? No matter!
What is important is that they must really be happy because we have been talking about the most valuable thing in the world, the best thing that any sentient being could ever wish for. Right! You've got it in one. Compassion.

When we first enter the Buddha’s teachings, analysis is a very important element, because without analysing the worldly or spiritual activities we undertake, we end up making mistakes. Tonight, we will analyse why we need faith in the unmistaken path of the Buddha.
